After arrival at Budapest International Airport, we begin our discovery of Islamic Eastern Europe in the magnificent Hungarian capital. We visit the iconic Fisherman's Bastion for panoramic views of the Danube, cross the historic Chain Bridge, and explore Buda Castle. We admire the Hungarian Parliament building from the riverside. The spiritual highlight of the day is a visit to the Maqaam of Gul Baba, the sacred tomb of the beloved Ottoman Bektashi dervish and poet who died during the capture of Buda in 1541. His tomb is the northernmost place of Islamic pilgrimage in Europe and has been beautifully restored as a symbol of Hungarian-Turkish friendship.

We visit the Mosque of Pasha Qasim, the largest surviving Ottoman building in Hungary, its dome and minaret still dominating the main square. We explore the Tomb of Idris Baba, a rare surviving Ottoman-era turbe, and the Yakovali Hasan Pasa Mosque, one of the best-preserved Ottoman mosques in the country, still bearing its original mihrab and minbar.
