After arrival at Athens International Airport, we begin our discovery of Islamic Greece in the historic capital. We explore the Acropolis area, which during nearly 400 years of Ottoman rule housed a mosque within the Parthenon itself. We visit the Panathinaikos Stadium, the marble stadium that hosted the first modern Olympics in 1896, and the Athens Trilogy of neoclassical buildings. We then visit the Grand Mosque and Islamic Center of Athens and the Benaki Islamic Heritage Museum, home to one of the finest collections of Islamic art in southeastern Europe.

We travel north to the island city of Chalkida (ancient Chalcis) on the island of Euboea, connected to the mainland by a bridge over the Euripus Strait. We visit the imposing Karababa Islamic Castle, built by the Ottomans in the 17th century on a hilltop overlooking the strait, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. We explore the Emir Zade Mosque, one of the finest examples of Ottoman religious architecture in Greece. We return to Athens for a sunset visit to the Acropolis, witnessing the golden light illuminate the ancient stones that once echoed with the call to prayer.

A full day exploring the deeper Islamic layers of Athens. We revisit the Athens Trilogy and explore the historic Monastiraki quarter, where we discover the Fatih Mosque (Fethiye Mosque), built in 1458 to commemorate the Ottoman conquest of Athens. We stroll through Plaka Square, the oldest neighborhood of Athens at the foot of the Acropolis, and visit the historical Quran Madrassa, a center of Islamic learning that served the Muslim community during the Ottoman period.

We depart Athens heading south into the Peloponnese. We cross the spectacular Corinth Canal, a narrow waterway cut through solid rock connecting the Aegean and Ionian seas. We visit the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, a remarkable 600-year-old Ottoman mosque perched in the mountains, a hidden treasure of Islamic heritage in Greece. We continue to the beautiful seaside town of Nafplio, the first capital of modern Greece, and ascend to the Islamic Castle of Palamidi, the impressive Venetian-Ottoman fortress with 999 steps, offering breathtaking views of the Argolic Gulf.

Morning at leisure for shopping in Athens, exploring the vibrant markets and boutiques of the city center. In the afternoon, we drive along the stunning Athens Riviera to Cape Sounion at the southernmost tip of the Attica peninsula. We visit the ancient Temple of Poseidon, dramatically perched on the cliffs 60 meters above the Aegean Sea, and witness one of the most spectacular sunsets in the Mediterranean world.

A leisure day dedicated to shopping and exploration. We visit a Fashion Outlet Village on the outskirts of Athens for designer shopping at excellent prices. The afternoon is free to explore the Old Historical City of Athens at your own pace, picking up souvenirs, visiting local cafes, and soaking in the atmosphere of this ancient yet vibrant capital.
