A spiritual journey through the Kingdom of Morocco and Islamic Spain. Visit the Grand Mosque Hassan II, the imperial cities of Marrakech, Fez, and Rabat, the sacred mountain of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, and the blue Sufi villages of Chefchaouan, before crossing the Strait of Gibraltar by ferry to discover the magnificent Islamic heritage of Sevilla, Cordoba, and Granada. This tour traces the path of Sayiduna Idriss Al Akbar and the great Muslim scholars who shaped the spiritual and intellectual landscape of the Maghreb and Al Andalus.

After arrival at Casablanca International Airport, we begin our spiritual journey with a visit to the magnificent Grand Mosque Hassan II, the largest mosque in Africa and the third largest in the world, built over the Atlantic Ocean. We then travel south to the imperial city of Marrakech, where we visit the iconic Koutoubia Mosque, the Old City Walls, and the vibrant Jamaa Al Fna square, the heart of Marrakech since the founding of the city. End the day with a traditional Camel Ride experience on the outskirts of the city.

We depart Marrakech heading north to the capital city of Rabat, where we visit the iconic Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, a masterpiece of modern Alaouite architecture. We continue to the imperial city of Meknes, one of the four royal cities of Morocco, where we visit the magnificent Bab Mansour, the grandest gate in all of North Africa, and the sacred Tomb of Zaouiya Moulay Ismail. Transfer to Fez for overnight.

A full day exploring the spiritual heart of Morocco. We visit the sacred Zaouiya of Moulay Idriss II, the founder of the city of Fez and descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). We proceed to the Karaouine Mosque, founded in 859 AD by Fatima al-Fihri, recognized as the oldest continuously operating university in the world. We visit the Maqaam of Sidi Ahmed Tijani, the founder of the Tijaniyya Sufi order, followed by the Royal Palace gates. The day concludes with a walk through the Old Medina and its legendary souks, the largest car-free urban area in the world.

We depart Fez to visit the sacred hilltop village of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, one of the holiest sites in Morocco and the resting place of Moulay Idriss I, the great-grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and founder of the first Muslim dynasty in Morocco. We continue north through the Rif Mountains to the enchanting blue city of Chefchaouan, nestled in the Blue Sufi Mountains, its medina painted in striking shades of blue by Andalusian refugees who settled here in the 15th century. We then proceed to the port city of Tanger for overnight.

A historic day as we cross the Strait of Gibraltar by ferry, retracing the path of the great Muslim general Tariq ibn Ziyad who crossed these waters in 711 AD. We arrive in Tarifa, the southernmost point of continental Europe, named after the Muslim commander Tarif ibn Malik. We proceed to Jabal Tariq (Gibraltar), the great rock named after the conqueror himself. We then drive along the stunning Costa del Sol to Sevilla, where we discover La Giralda, the former minaret of the great Almohad mosque now serving as the cathedral bell tower, the magnificent Alcazar Palace, and the Golden Tower (Torre del Oro) on the banks of the Guadalquivir river.

We travel to the Capital Caliphate City of Cordoba, once the most advanced city in all of Europe and the seat of the Umayyad Caliphate in the West. We visit the awe-inspiring Great Mosque of Cordoba (Mezquita), with its forest of over 850 columns and double arches, a masterpiece of Islamic architecture. We explore the ruins of Medina Azahra, the legendary palace-city built by Caliph Abd al-Rahman III, and cross the ancient Roman bridge of Musa Ibn Nusair over the Guadalquivir. We then continue to Granada, the last Islamic kingdom in Europe.

Full day exploring Granada, the crown jewel of Islamic Spain. We visit the Qoran Madrassa, the historical Islamic school in the heart of the city. We walk through the Al Baizin (Albaicin) Arabic quarter, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its winding cobblestone streets and traditional Moorish houses. The highlight is the legendary Alhambra Palace, the finest example of Islamic art and architecture in the Western world, including the Nasrid Palaces, the Court of the Lions, and the Generalife gardens. We end the day at the Mirador de San Nicolas for breathtaking sunset views of the Alhambra against the Sierra Nevada mountains.
