After arrival at the Airport of Madrid, enjoy a panoramic tour of Madrid — the only European capital city with Islamic origins, founded by Emir Muhammad I of Cordoba in the ninth century and named Mayrit. The former site of the old citadel is now home to the Royal Main Official Palace (Palacio Real). Visit the beautiful surroundings of the Royal Cathedral of Madrid, Puerto del Sol, Gran Via, Plaza de Toros, and the Bernabeu Official Stadium. After breakfast we head to Toledo (Toulaytoula), the pre-capital city of the Visigoths and later one of the most flourishing Islamic capitals for knowledge and science. Visit the Historical Mosque Cristo de la Luz, the Islamic Moorish city wall, the old Moorish Alcantara Bridge, and the main city gate Bab Al Saqra. Afterwards we continue to the Capital Caliphate City of Al-Andalus, Cordoba. Cordoba was one of the prominent centers of learning and culture in the enlightened Muslim world. While the rest of Europe was going through its dark ages, this was the most prosperous and sophisticated metropolis on the continent. It was the capital of Muslim Spain during 756 to 1031 CE. The grand mosque in the centre of the city was the glory of Cordoba — the most exquisite and largest mosque in the biggest city in Southern Europe, started by Abd ar-Rahman I in 784 CE. The great mosque was famed as a centre for higher learning on a par with Cairo and Baghdad and was the earliest medieval university in Europe. Visit the great Medina Azahara Museum and Great Mosque of Cordoba, the bridge of Musa Ibn Nusair, and the old Historical City Islamic quarter. Free traditional shopping. After breakfast we start our discovery tour of the last Islamic Kingdom city of Andalucia, Granada. During the Reconquista, Muslim states fell one by one to Christian kingdoms from the north, with major cities of Cordoba, Seville, and Toledo falling between the 11th and 13th centuries. Granada was able to escape conquest and remained independent as the Emirate of Granada, protected by its position high in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, for over 250 years as a tributary state to the Kingdom of Castile. The war that began in 1482 between the Kingdom of Spain and the Emirate of Granada ended with the fall of Granada in 1492, closing the chapter of Islam in Al-Andalus. Visit the Historical Quran Madrassa of Granada, the surroundings of the historical old Cathedral (originally a mosque converted to a cathedral), the Arabic Al-Baizin Islamic quarter, the Alhambra Palace, the beautiful Mirador, Plaza Saint Nicolas, and the Historical Sacramento. Free traditional shopping tour in Granada. Overnight and dinner in Guadix.

This morning we continue our journey to the Sufi mystic mountain cave city of Guadix. As the French geographer Jean Sermet said: "Guadix is a city that is not due to describe; it must be seen." After 711 it rose to importance as a Moorish fortress and trading station, renamed Wadi Ashi (The River of Life). During this period, Guadix was home to Hamda bint Ziyad, one of medieval Granada's foremost women poets. The Muslims gave the city its prominence, equipping it with its Muslim appearance. In the 10th century, Emir Abderrahman III granted it great military importance. After the fall of Granada in 1492, Guadix became a rebellion region against the Christian Crusaders and the caves in the mountains served as hiding places for Muslims escaping persecution until the last Muslim citizens were expelled in 1609. Afterwards we continue our journey to Murcia, the mystic birth city of Imam Ibn Arabi and many other Islamic Sufi scholars. The scenery includes breathtaking cliff top views, rocky coves, terraced palm yards, mountains, and huge palm tree areas brought once by the Muslims to the Iberian peninsula. Overnight and dinner in Murcia.

This morning we continue our journey along the Costa Blanca to the beach villages of Denia and Javea — beautiful breathtaking villages at the Mediterranean east coast, old Islamic heritage bastions protecting Al-Andalusia from the eastern sea side. Afterwards we continue to Valencia. The city of Valencia's rich Islamic heritage made it one of the greatest cities in the western world during medieval times. The old Muslim Castle, founded under Islamic rule, occupied a strategic position for defending the surrounding territory and maritime access routes. The Muslims lived here for 520 years from 718 through to 1238. The economy of Muslim Valencia, based on agriculture, grew significantly in the 11th century under the rule of Emir Abd al-Aziz, who was instrumental in building the surrounding walls. The Muslim site was three times the size of the Roman one, covering 47 hectares with some 15,000 inhabitants. The city inside the walls was typically Islamic with narrow winding streets. The only Moorish buildings left standing are the baths of Abd Al-Malik, now known as the Banos del Almirante. Overnight and dinner in Valencia surrounding area.
